Volunteer!

Book Harvest offers many meaningful and effective ways for caring citizens to volunteer.

Our BIGGEST NEED is for volunteers to run book drives -- in their neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, congregations, civic groups, local businesses, and scout troops.  Running a book drive is fun and easy.  Click here to see our toolkit that has everything you need.

In addition to running book drives, we have lots of volunteer opportunities, including:

  • book sorting.  This is a terrific, high-impact project for school or workplace groups or individuals -- and is especially great for students interested in logging service hours.

  •  serving as the Book Harvest liaison to one of our distribution partners.  This involves visiting the partner every week to two weeks to inventory and restock bookshelves.

  • serving as a substitute liaison to our distribution partners. Many weeks, one or more of our regular liaisons has a conflict and can't make the delivery. We need subs to make sure our shelves stay filled!

  • serving as the Book Harvest liaison to one or more of our collection partners. This involves placing a book collection bin at a local business or community site, collecting the books that come in every week, and bringing them to us for sorting and distribution.

  • volunteering to help run our Books on Break distributions in late May and early June; these will ensure that low-income kids go home for summer with books to read.  Click here to learn more about Books on Break.

  • marketing and outreach.

Please contact Book Harvest to inquire about any of these or other volunteer opportunities.

Thank you for your interest!
