Books for Free

Books for Free is our inaugural program, in which we stock "free book" shelves at sites which serve low-income children.

Our BFF shelves can be found at health clinics, social service agencies, tutoring and afterschool programs, schools, summer and intersession camps, community centers, and Early Head Start programs, Each week or as needed, a Book Harvest volunteer liaison restocks the shelf at each site with free, age-appropriate books. Signs on top of the shelves encourage children to take books home which interest them and to build home libraries.  

We typically distribute 1,000 to 2,000 books weekly through BFF.  Please visit our Book Distribution Partners  page for a complete list of our 25 BFF sites.

In our first 15 months, children harvested more than 50,000 donated books from BFF shelves!
